Show and tell

Event Info

The CDC’s “show-and-tell” days are designed to help riders practice their tests in a simulated show environment with one-on-one feedback from the judge. Participants will ride their selected test which will be judged/scored as it would be in a competition. Then the judge will go through the test with the rider and suggest improvements can be made to improve their score. Participants will then ride their selected test again and try to improve their marks. Each of these sessions will run for a half hour.

Membership

All participants must be current members in good standing of the Cowichan Dressage Club (CDC) and must also have a HCBC membership.

Waivers

All participants must complete and sign a CDC waiver and the facility waiver and these waivers must be submitted along with entries.

Safety

All riders must wear boots with a heel and an approved riding helmet. If any behaviour is deemed unsafe or inhumane by the Show Coordinator, a participant may be refused the right to participate

Rules

  • Classes will be run under HCBC and Equestrian Canada rules. Participants are expected to be familiar with rules pertaining to their discipline and level

  • All tests will be ridden in a 20mx60m arena. If you are a para rider or eventer and would like a 20mx40m arena, your time will be scheduled as one of the final rides of the day so we can modify the arena for you. Please specify this as a “special need/consideration”

  • Tests can be called

  • The dress code is clean and tidy attire; show clothes are welcome

  • Whips and protective leg wraps/coverings are allowed

  • Tack must adhere to HCBC/EC rules

  • Lunging and/or in-hand work must be limited to the smaller arena and not cause disturbance to the other riders/horses

Please note:  There is no stabling on site. Limited well water is available for watering horses (please do not use for hosing down). The potability of this water for human consumption is unknown. Bathrooms will be available at the concession building. A limited selection of cold beverages will be available by donation. Please refrain from smoking on the event grounds. 

  • 100% refund if Cowichan Dressage Club (“the club”) is informed, in writing (email), of withdrawal from the event at least 2 weeks prior to the date of the event;

  • 50% refund if the club is informed, in writing (email), of withdrawal from the event less than 2 weeks, but at least 1 week, prior to the date of the event.
